Peripheral

Peripheral

Have you had a feeling that someone is beside you and when you look no one is there? Do you want to know how to see the invisible? The peripheral view is the vision that you see at the sides of your eyes. To see something clearly you don’t have to look at it directly but look at it in your peripheral view. What if your vision is only a deception of the truth? And that your peripheral tells you what you really need to see.

Jenny was a varsity player in a famous university. She was popular in all aspects: sports, academics and beauty. Everyone liked her but some envied her in the wrong way. She was a hardworking student and always gets high grades in school. One night after gym class she went to the shower room to clean up and she came across one of her classmates, Haley. Haley is commonly known as “Paley Haley” she was not one of the popular girls in class but she was good at something, witchcraft. Haley smiled at Jenny as she walked across but Jenny did not see her because she was hurrying to the showers. Ever since that incident Jenny started seeing things that was not believable.

During her math class, when she was called to answer some board works, she wrote her equation and on the side of her vision she saw someone as if it was hanging on ceiling. As she looked up, she did not saw anything, she kept on answering and on the other side of the room, again she saw someone as if she was jumping off the window. She ignored these peripheral visions. One incident happened to her that made her realize that this was not the usual happenings. She was taking a shower at home when she saw someone walking towards her. She looks instantly but no one was there. She began feeling like she was not alone in the bathroom. The water flowed down her face and into her body. The moment she closed her eyes, she heard strange noises like someone was whispering to her ear. She then opened her eyes and saw a woman’s face staring at her with no eyes and a torn lip. She screamed and went outside the bathroom.

That morning, she still sees things she did not want to see. She sees people cutting their necks off, shooting themselves in the head and people committing different ways of suicide. People then began worrying for her. After class, Haley approached her and said. “The vision cheats the truth. Sometimes you have to see the things that the eyes cannot see.” Jenny looked at her and saw her grinning at her as if possessed by an evil aura. She then knew it was her doing some kind of witchcraft and grabbed her at the arm. Haley then back out and ran across the hall. Haley dropped a notebook and Jenny opened it.

The notebook contained pictures of her and it says there that Haley wanted to be like her. She then dropped it when she turned to the last page. It was a lock of hair beside it was a flattened human eye. She cannot believe what was happening she began to panic. Then her peripheral view started to attack once again. She kept seeing a man with a large knife running towards her. She ran away going to a nearby playground and saw Haley. Haley slowly approached her and spoke “You ignored me. You always ignore me. Don’t you want to be my friend? I only wanted to be your friend. Why can’t I be?” Jenny tried to approach her then again the same man kept on appearing. Haley then said. “They will not go away. The only cure is to lose your vision permanently” she then gave her a pocketknife and walked away.

That night Jenny turned blind and was isolated in a mental institute. She kept on saying that she no longer sees the dead but hears them whispering to her. As Haley opened the notebook in her room, she took off the flattened eye and replaced it with an ear. Since then Haley became popular, like Jenny.
